A virtual breastfeeding appointment offers personalized, one-on-one lactation support from the comfort of your own home. Using a secure video platform, we work together in real time to address your feeding concerns and support your goals.During your virtual visit, we may:Review your health history, birth experience, and feeding goalsObserve a full feeding session (when possible) to assess latch, positioning, and milk transferProvide guidance on positioning and latch using demonstration, verbal coaching, and visual feedbackDiscuss milk supply concerns, pumping, bottle feeding, and combination feedingReview infant behavior, feeding frequency, diaper output, and weight patternsAddress common challenges such as pain, engorgement, nipple damage, or fussy feedsYou’ll be guided step by step, with time to pause, adjust, and ask questions throughout the session. If helpful, I may suggest simple positioning changes or tools you can try immediately.Virtual appointments are ideal for families who prefer at-home support, need timely guidance, or live outside of the local service area. This allows us to work in your natural feeding environment and address challenges as they are happening in real time.For this visit, I ask that your baby be hungry at the start of the appointment so we can observe a full feeding.During your home visit, we may:Review your health history, birth experience, and feeding goalsWeigh your baby before the feeding using a calibrated scaleObserve a full breastfeeding session while offering gentle, practical guidance on positioning, latch, and comfortProvide support for common concerns such as pain, low milk transfer, oversupply, engorgement, pumping, or supplementingWeigh your baby again after the feeding to assess milk transfer through a test weight feeding assessmentDiscuss what the results mean for your baby’s intake and your feeding planThis test weight assessment helps give valuable insight into how effectively your baby is feeding at the breast and can guide next steps when weight gain or milk intake is a concern.You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions, troubleshoot challenges, and receive personalized recommendations.
